In 2018, the trusted Barlo brand will be rolled out across QRL Radiator Group’s whole portfolio in Great Britain. So, what exactly is in the name?
Going back to Barlo is going back to our roots. The original Barlo Company was founded by Aidan Barlow in 1967 in Clonmel, Ireland. The company acquired its first press in the late 1970s, with steel being sourced from works in Llanwern and Port Talbot in Wales. To this day, we still choose Port Talbot’s quality, British steel to make our panel radiators.
The first UK factory was built in Manchester in 1989. That same year, Tony Mullins took the helm of the Barlo Company – and he remains the chairman of QRL Radiator Group today. In 2007, we opened the doors to the current QRL Radiator Group manufacturing facility in Newport, Wales – a state-of-the-art factory with more than a mile of cutting-edge robotic production lines.
We know from listening to our customer that Barlo is the name you trust in radiators, and we’re proud to be bringing the brand back just in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Barlo is synonymous with market-leading radiators. Ultimately, the name stands for:
For us, this means Great British radiators, manufactured at Europe’s most technologically advanced manufacturing plant, using British steel sourced locally. But it doesn’t stop there: we’re also committed to pushing the boundaries of heating performance and will continue to invest in the very best products, processes and people.
We strongly believe our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and that gradually introducing the Barlo name to our full product range will give us the platform necessary to serve our valued customers even better. This is because we want every experience you have with our people and products to exceed your expectations.
Whilst QRL Radiator Group remains the official umbrella name for our company, and you will continue to see it on official correspondence, you will start seeing the Barlo branding through merchants and retailers from January 2018.
We are working closely with customers in the industry as we continue the roll-out of the Barlo name, ensuring a smooth transition for all involved. For any further enquiries, or to talk about how this will affect you, please email or phone 01633 657000.
